Meg: This blog is one way for me to document the process and stay connected to other artists. It creates a small degree of accountability... My goal is to keep working, no matter what the inner critic suggests. Bravery and resolve to persist cropped up in me after seeing other artists' creative process in their blogs. The process is as important as the product anyway... The process of making art takes me down a road and I don't know where it's going. The lack of control is exhilarating, frightening and productive. Sometimes I have to push through a wall of apathy before I get back to painting because I see all the imperfections in the work. But it's helpful to remember what Salvador Dali said: "Don't worry about attaining perfection; it's not possible." I still aim to get a step closer to perfection with each mark. A swim coach used to say, "perfect practice makes perfect." So I'm striving for perfection, but will settle for progress. And since practice makes progress, computer is shutting down and I'm going to my studio. :-)
